Spending Archives

Is it less painful to pay with a credit card than wish cash? Well, probably yeah. And also when you have to get the cash out, it's just a world of pain. Credit cards make it so much easier.

But does that mean you spend more on your credit card? Probably not. Because you've already decided to buy the products when you hand over either cash or credit cards. And it's not like you have flashbacks to getting cash out when deciding to buy something (well, for most of us, a few of you crazy people might :p).

This time the online January sales got me. Damn Play.com and their even further reductions.

I noticed one of the DVDs I had just bought from their initial January sale even there even better sale. I'm 90% sure it's the same price.

I hate January sales

I hate January sales. Well, I love them of course but it's a love hate thing. They are fantastic if there is something you want. But you are going to end up buying stuff anyway.

I only went into town to go to two shops quickly yesterday morning and I ended up getting sucked in to the sales at both Virgin and HMV.

Having a job is expensive

Consider this - I go to work at the weekend. Bus it there, £1.50. Bus it back at the end £1.50. Snacks for the journey - a bottle of coke and some chocolate, £1.00. Snacks during work £3.00 for two cans of Red Bull and some fruit gums. Snacks after work - £3.00 for some ready to eat chicken.

To do this shift at work it's cost me £9. That's going on two hours wages! Now if I only work a 7 hour shift that means like 25% of my wage from the job is being spent on having the job.

Working is an expensive business.
